As a Child Protection Practitioner, you’ll be committing to a future where you can make meaningful change to the lives of children at risk of abuse or neglect. In this statutory role, your social work or welfare qualifications will be welcomed into a supportive and hard-working team who share a common goal.

You’ll manage cases and work with other professionals in the community to assess reports of child abuse and neglect, and at times present matters to the Children's Court of Victoria. You’ll acquire an excellent grounding across the child and family services system, while managing a variety of complex matters. The work is diverse and ever-changing.

Child Protection Student Placement Program

Each year, the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing runs a student placement program in child protection. All of the department's offices throughout Victoria participate in this program, providing placements for students from a large number of education institutions within Australia.
